School is officially in full swing and we know you’re already missing your summer vacation. Lucky for you fall break is just around the corner. You’ll need some time off before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is here and we recommend getting out of town. We’ve mapped out some easy spots for you to take a road trip across our beautiful state (in no particular order). It’s time to pack up the Hyundai Santa Fe and hit the road.
Santa Fe
This had to make the list–imagine how epic it will be rolling into Santa Fe in your Santa Fe! This is the closest spot to Albuquerque and the most colorful one. This quiet, artsy town is full of local jewelry, paintings, and antique architecture. It’s a staple of New Mexico with its 100+ art galleries.
Taos
Who says there isn’t skiing in New Mexico? Well, maybe not right this moment. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy this quaint mountain town. You’ll have the option to explore the terrain by hiking or mountain biking. It’s also similar to Santa Fe in the sense that you can experience the local art by visiting multiple galleries and museums.
Spaceport America
Say hello to the future right in our backyard. You can visit the world’s first purpose-built, commercial spaceport. Forget airports, this spaceport will hopefully be used for space travel in the future and is extremely accessible to New Mexico residents.
Roswell
You had to see this one coming–if you’re going to visit Spaceport America, you have to see Roswell. Experience the alien speculations and tour the International UFO Museum and Research Center. Clue us in if you have any new UFO theories after visiting!
White Sands National Monument
Once you’ve seen mountains, museums, and space, take a trip to the White Sands National Monument for some true beauty. You can camp, bike, drive, and sled as you explore the white, gleaming dunes. You’ll feel like you’re in a dream.
