It’s been warmer for a bit in Albuquerque, so we’re officially heading into summer now. We can’t wait for the adventures this new season will bring. With that, it’s time to pack up your Hyundai, hit some trails, and have some fun. Follow our quick guide of local hikes around Albuquerque on the blog this month:
Piedra Lisa Canyon Trail
Just over the Sandia Foothills Open Space Park, Piedra Lisa Canyon Trail is a great option for someone wanting more of a challenge. Since it’s ranked as a “moderate” trail, remember to stretch and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Piedras Marcadas Canyon
Piedras Marcadas Canyon is an excellent choice and an easy trail for most people. It’s located in nearby Petroglyph National Monument Scope. You’ll find ancient images from the Ancestral Pueblo period while enjoying the warm weather with your friends and family. This trail is a fun one for kids who have taken a liking to history.
La Luz Trail
If you’re ready to conquer a lot, we recommend taking on the La Luz Trail in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. It sits further back in the mountains and will most likely be an all-day excursion. Be sure to prepare for hours in the sun—this means plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen.
