Family Tree
Map out your family while simultaneously teaching your kids their heritage with this finger painting exercise. You (the adult with a steady hand) will draw a tree figure with branches signifying your heritage. Then leave it up to the youngsters to create the leaves on the tree by dipping their thumbs in paint and decorating the page.
Mason Jar Turkey
Every mom on the block knows about the pine cone turkey, but how about the mason jar turkey? This is a trendier take on this classic craft. Paint your mason jar brown so it can be the body of your crafty turkey. Then your kids will color popsicle sticks to represent the feathers that you’ll glue to the back of the jar. Cut out a turkey face from some construction paper and voila–you have a handmade Thanksgiving centerpiece for the kids table.
Pilgrim Hat Holder
With any approaching holiday, your kid will want to decorate every inch of your home. You might as well make it a craft with a purpose, right? Get any size paper cup and cut out the bottom. Then wrap black construction paper around the cup and fasten in the back. Once that’s done, cut out a black circle about an inch wider than the cup’s circumference and glue it to what would be the top of the cup. Fasten on a decorative buckle to the front and you’ve got yourself a Thanksgiving pilgrim crayon holder. This masterpiece will look great at your craft station.
